I’m doing a giveaway! Watch the video for all the wonderful details if you are interested in winning a free steam game or games.
Rules1. You MUST be a subscriber on YouTube. This is YouTube giveaway so that’s how the entries are going to be counted. This means you have to share your subscriptions publicly. If you don’t I won’t be able to see if you are subscribed.
2. Leave a comment on the video with what game or games you’re really wanting to buy and play. Doesn’t have to be the game(s) you want to win from Steam, or even recently released games, just a general thing.
3. You may enter as many times as you’d like but only up to five times per day to avoid any issues with spam.
And that’s it! The giveaway is open from now until May 31st. June 1st I will be announcing the winner via YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. I’ll be using these other outlets to continuously announce the winner. If the winner doesn’t respond within 24 hours I will, unfortunately, have to pick another. :(
Extra Life Live StreamNear the end of October to November 2nd I’m going to be holding a 25-hour live stream. I’m not sure on the date yet but I want to have it be a full stream without much interruption. It’s going to be on my twitch, and I’m planning to do some giveaways during it as well. I’ll have more information about it closer to the date.
But the live stream is entirely for charity. I’m raising money for CHOP, all the proceeds go straight there and it’s all tax deductible. You don’t need to wait until the live stream to donate either, just head click here to get to the donation pool and to read more about Extra Life. Even if you don’t intend or cannot donate you are still very so welcome to join the live stream and participate in the fun going on then. And hey, if you want to but can’t tell a friend. You don’t need to donate to me either, there are a ton of other people who will be doing the exact same thing come November 2nd but most likely for different hospitals/charities.But this is everyone’s invitation to come hang out, pop in and say hi, etc. It’s going to be fun. :)!
What kind of a giveaway or what games would you guys be interested in seeing during the live stream?

So, yeah, I guess, this is a thing. The trailer is purely cinematic, but it’s only an announcement trailer. Will be updating with future information throughout the day!

IGN reported this interesting bit of news yesterday and continued the article today by speculating this might be a thing of the future. And, one needs to only think for a second: Why wouldn’t video game companies take advantage of this? We heard about the possibility of video game prices dropping in the future and this only seems to support that rumor. Companies could gladly lower gaming and system prices when tacking on a yearly, costly, contract when purchasing a new system. But, what seems like a great deal might actually be costing you more than you’d think. Let’s put some numbers together, shall we?
Totaling up the numbers in IGN’s article, should the new Xbox cost $99 with a 2-year $15-a-month subscription, the cost would amount to around $460. So it wouldn’t be anymore than paying for the full console anyway, except you don’t need to tack on live costs as you’re paying for it already.
Now this isn’t such a big deal to those who pay, enjoy, and use Xbox Live, as you’d be buying the subscription anyway. The thing that does kind of suck is for the people who, typically, don’t use the Live features and services. The people who use the console for single-player or offline multiplayer are going to get robbed either way. Should Microsoft, hypothetically based on this article, come out with a $99+2-year subscription Xbox 720 and a full retailed priced Xbox 720 without the contract, then I can see the product being vastly overpriced; well-over $500, basing upon the numbers in the article. The same applies to the Xbox 360, should we see this happening sooner than next gen.
The next thing that wouldn’t be nice is, in the article, the subscription would be $15 monthly. Meaning, another five dollar increase towards live. So, to those who paid full retail price of the new Xbox that means any time you want to buy a month of live it’s going to $15 a month on top of what you just paid; $65-75 for a full year card. Implying that this isn’t just for the $99 bundled console but an updated cost overall.
If this becomes a thing of the future, or even today, I can see many flocking to other systems. Why pay all that to play a game online when you can just do it for free, same game, on a different console? I can’t, honestly, see this happening unless all the companies start doing it for that very fact. It’d simply be too much money to afford for the typical gamer, and too big a risk for companies to take. Unless they’re playing on the naivity of some gamers, as $99+$15-a-month for 2-years seems a lot cheaper up front than $250+$10-a-month. It had me going at first too. But, when you add up all those numbers up it’s surprising how much more it’s actually going to to cost than it already does.
I want to know, do you guys think this is going to be a thing of the future? Would you consider opening a yearly subscription and contract with companies to get systems cheaper?

A while ago, I made a post on Silent Hill PSN Goodies. Today, a few more things were released for Playstation Home.
These can be found by going to “new items” in the shopping area, or by visiting the Konami store.
The Anne uniform is just the uniform, seen here with Heather’s head.
IIRC, the outfits were $2.99 and the diner $4.99.
The Murphy outfit is just the jumpsuit, seen here with James’ head.
This nurse needed to use the toilet, but found they were missing in the diner.
PH strikes a pose in the men’s room.
Alice: Madness Returns is the next game I want to get around to reviewing. After Silent Hill HD collection. Although, I might play Alice first while waiting for this patch to be released for the HD collection. I want to be able to review it with out all these terrible bugs and issues that came with its release.
